This is my domain. My name is Heidi Martinsson and I am born 1982.
Ever since I was a toddler I have loved art. And this includes art in many ways. I painted the walls, my arms, cut the fur of the dog, and so on. I could paint for hours in my room as if there was nothing else that mattered. I used to paint and work with cheramics with my aunt, Hjördis Martinsson, in her studio. This is one of my most sherished memories. In school it was all about drawing and painting, computer designs and drawing my own invented backpacks (and clothing).
When I got older I studied art and design, and then changed direction. I always felt inhibited when I couldn’t work with the things I wanted and the way I wanted to. I rather kept the love for art and worked with it on my spare time. I wanted to start a company with designing “sustainable” clothes for children. Unisex, eco-friendly and wearable clothes for active children with attitude. Unfortunately it was not as easy to find supplier that delivered the kind of quality I wanted. Later on I worked as a welder and found my love to creating within the construction area. Metal was a wonderful material to work with and the welding process was…. fascinating.
Tattoos has been, like a drug. I love tattoos and started as a kid with my arms covered with ink (not as happy mum, I assure you) But as the time passed by I found the fact that like a painting you have an artist behind the piece, and I started to look at tattoos in a new way.
I happened to meet a kind hearted and sweet grandfather, Thor Lindgren, of a kid (the sweetest one!) named Liam. When I stepped into his studio I felt genuine happy! I had forgotten all about art but I could spend I lifetime in there. It was really fun to share this passion for art with someone. I got a start-set for painting for my birthday, and I promised to give him the first one I made.
I also fortunately met a very creative and kind artist, Sara Edström, and it’s a privilege to be her acquaintance. Not only does she inspire me as a person to work with all the things I wanted when I was younger (and had the courage to dream) but I have seen their workshop and some of the art they do and I get even more inspired of how to work with art.
Thank you both!
this is the short version of my way trought life with art.
The journey hopefully will be covered with alot of memories. And this is my way of sharing them with you.
